What is Judo?
Judo, the way of yielding) is a martial art, a combat sport and a Japanese personal defense method formally born in Japan with the foundation of Kōdōkan by prof. Jigorō Kanō, in 1882. Practitioners of this discipline are called judoists or more commonly judoka (柔道 家 jūdōka). Judo is the most effective way to use physical and mental strength. Training in the discipline of Judo means achieving perfect knowledge of the spirit through attack-defense training and the constant effort to achieve a physical-spiritual improvement. The improvement of the ego thus obtained must be directed to the social service, which is the ultimate goal of Judo. Jū (柔?) Is a beautiful concept concerning logic, virtue and splendor; it is the reality of what is sincere, good and beautiful. The expression of Judo is through waza, which is acquired through technical training based on scientific study
What is TaeKwon-Do
Giving a definition to this Martial Art is not easy, since it is not only a method of self-defense based on the use of punches and kicks, but implies a lifestyle aimed at the knowledge of one's own self. Literally the Korean word Tae Kwon Do divided into three ideograms, is the art of kicking in the air and punching. TAE = Kicking in flight KWON = Punch DO = Art From a practical point of view this in-depth knowledge of oneself is expressed through hard physical training, where each practitioner must seek in himself the strength of physical, mental and spiritual improvement. The TaeKwon-Do approach is direct and simple, its true strength deriving from its apparent simplicity. Its movements reflect the motion of the sea wave, they are fluid, without sudden arrests, they are combined in a harmony of techniques that arise from the end of the other. The physical techniques of Taekwon-Do are based on the principles of modern science and in particular Newtonian physics which teaches how to generate maximum power. Gen. Choi has created a wide variety of techniques that can be used in any situation
